A little premature, however if I start the thread now, I'll remember occasional thoughts.

And more importantly, others may post thoughts in a timely manner.

Anyway. Strong recommendation for Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs.

Hugely original. Brand new but not well known.Uses an animation technique that's both weirdly realistic and artificial at the same time. Anime but different.

And it would provide a huge change of pace vs. the usual fodder. Straight forward but subtly hilarious at the same time.

Thanks.

I think a great theme for 2019 would be moon landing movies since it's been exactly 50 years. Run the original 1902 "A Trip to the Moon", "Destination Moon", "Project Moon base", "Apollo 13", even "Capricorn One" (even though its technically a faked Mars landing movie), possibly even the pilot episode of "Space 1999". There are a ton of other moon/other planet choices; even new stuff like "The Martian" or "First Man".

Give it some thought, Joe and Bruce.

Oh, YESSSS. I've never gotten to see Akira on a big screen. It would be awesome if Joe can make that happen.

Another fun one would be if they would show Starchaser: The Legend of Orin in 3D. I don't know if the theater is set up for 3D, but there's a 3D DCP available and it's a film that has, sadly, only ever been released in 3D on the obscure Japanese VHD format. It was finally released on Blu-ray this year, but not in 3D. If you've never seen it, it's nothing original, but it's a fun, well-animated Star Wars rip-off.
