The Ohio Sci-Fi and Horror Marathons

Hello All, I know most people on this board are against re-makes so I was just wondering if anyone plans on seeing Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D? I have to see it because it's in 3-D plus I am a Brendan Fraser fan.

I might take my son to see it since I think the Marcus in Picktown will show it in 3-D. I'm not overly attached to the orginal, so a remake, in this case doesn't bother me as much as The Day The Earth Stood Still would.

I will see how the reviews come out on this one. Although I have fond Marathon memories of the James Mason-Pat Boone original (and it was the Very Last movie ever shown at the Orson Welles Cinema at the Boston Marathon), it isn't a great film. The Bernard Herrrmann music will be missed however. And, James Mason was a great actor.

I took my 14 year old daughter to see "Journey" today and we both loved it, the 3-D was very cool although the off the screen effects were not as good as the depth effects. I love the fact that everyone gets a souvenir pair of "Real D" 3-D glasses to keep, in the past the theaters would give you glasses that you had to turn in after the movie.

I feel sorry for anyone who sees this movie in 2-D, the 3-D is so amazing they will be missing half of the fun. I hope it kicks but at the box office so 3-D will continue to grow not to mention a possible sequel!!!

Actually, when my wife and I went to see Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D, they let us keep the glasses too.

Glad to hear that Journey didn't disappoint.

Took Sergei to see it the other day. We both really liked it, though at 5 he didn't do a great job keeping the glasses on. We did not get to keep the glasses. We went to the Marcus in Pickerington.

As for the movie, I thought it was a nice use of the book and not something they used too often as a crutch. I also liked they included som YoYo bits since I feel they should be in all 3-D movies by law. I thought the cast had a nice dynamic, and while it was predicitable to a great extent, it was a nice fun summer movie.

I also liked the bit early on where Trevor was going through Max's stuff and pulls out the stereoscope and has no idea what it is. A nice little wink to those who love 3-D.
