Here are just a few comments on the few suggestions...
I don't know if "sanctuary" has browsed the Boston marathon website or if it is a coincidence, but they just announced
The Lathe of Heaven as part of their lineup. It will be a video projection because it is very rare and film prints probably do not exist. And as you know, a lot of the things Boston gets trickle down to us sometimes. That goes for
A Boy and His Dog which showed there a couple years ago (a brand new print, from what I gather) and
Repo Man, which hasn't played since SF11.
2010 I have heard is mysteriously unavailable from the studio, though an obvious choice. Good call on
Phantom of the Paradise, I would love to see that thing gloriously projected to the marathon throng.
Both versions of
The Thing played in Ohio last year, so those are out. Bruce has persued both
Soylent Green and
The Man Who Fell to Earth, don't know what happened in either case.
The Green Slime and
The Black Hole are both famously unavailable and I am sure remain on the short list every year until something happens. Remember, last year's
Logan's Run was sought after for years and years so you never know...
Looking at the rest of Boston's lineup so far,
Colossus: The Forbin Project is a nice catch that I hope Bruce can snag,
District 9 is one of the best SF films I have seen in a long while, but it is too soon after it's release for it's inclusion this year to be interesting.
Moon, however, was largely overlooked.
And Bruce has
committed to a definite maybe on

Someday, probably not this year, I think we'll do this. We'll do it to honor Tim, former Drexel Grandview manager, organizer of his own horrothons, in his comix shop days one of the most generous prize donors of the golden age of the Drexel North , and fervent marathon website poster. I can almost guarantee that it will be shown in the wee hours, 3AM, 5AM, 7AM. I, for one, having never seen it, look forward to having JASON X keep me awake.
... but it is on the list
So maybe this is the year...
