someone needs to help me out with where the groovy-looking blonde chick is from.

The background and boxy thing on the left is 2010, as well.

A reminder to all: whilst checking out the swank new SF main page, be sure to peruse the Archives section, conveniently linked to on the right of said page.

You may still see some graphical oddities as I try and merge the style sheets together, but everything should at least be accessible. After last night things are "roughly" where they're supposed to be, but I haven't had time to check all the different pages for quirks.

Ticket information has been updated in a new thread in the World Watch Wire, though there's not much there as yet.

The groovy blond is, I do believe, Galaxina.

It is, indeed, the lovely and untalented Dorothy Stratten as Galaxina.

I remember very little about it, but what I do remember was it being a painfully unfunny comedy. Sort of the Meet the Spartans or Disaster/Epic/Superhero Movie of it's time. We'll see if this cheese has aged well.

Through the wonderful Ohio Reach inter library system of Westerville Ohio Public Library I put a reserve on Galaxina to see how bad the movie is. Since I just watch the trailer of said film on my Cell Phone. I suggest the movie solely on the trailer.

It have been a long time that some authentic cheese played at the Ohio's 24 Hour Sci Fi Thon and IMO it is time for some real cheese. Now could this be the worse than the debacles known as The Apple and Automatons? Who can say? Will people run out of the Drexel screaming said movie? Probably. Do you think that it is time to stop answering my own hypothetical questions? Yes.

Now as I will go down to the Ogre or The Drexel to get my tix and starting to stand in line around 6:30AM on the day of the thon. One more thing please get Night of the Creeps.

Now resuming my game of Final Fantasy on my LG Lotus. Yes it is a legit version that currently available on Sprint Network and published by Namco Mobile.

I can't believe you put The Apple and Automatons in the same sentence! I bought The Apple. A rerun of Automatons, however, would cause me to run screaming from the theater, or at least heading for the Radio Cafe for another beer.

+1

The Apple has so many memorable musical numbers, what with Fake Roger Daltry and the mincing gay sidekick, ...Automatons has so many memorable...shots of radar screens...and incredibly boring robot battles...

Yes, there is quite a difference between "terrible & entertaining" and just plain terrible. Though some may not have found The Apple entertaining, most of the marathon crowd did. It doesn't even belong in the same sentence with unentertaining garbage like Automatons.

Though, Automatons always does seem to come up quite frequently. Bruce admitted as much by saying something along the lines of "I guarantee you'll never forget it..."

And, as I have mentioned on this board before, intentionally going out of your way to watch or rewatch a movie you know is going to play at the marathon is something I will never understand. To each his own, I guess...

Just in case that I doze off. I can give you that The Apple is better than Automons. When I did watch Automons on DVD I still didn't get it. I watch it twice.

Ditto on The Apple vs. Automatons. I bought The Apple on DVD...Loved it. I'd rather gouge my eyes out than sit through Automatons again. That said, I'm incredibly psyched for the 'thon this year! I anxiously await the official/unofficial film announcements!

Looking at the Ohio Hall of Marathonia, is it true that GALAXINA has never played?

It played Boston twice. The first time, it was considered a modestly successful piece of low budget B movie material. The second time - "Why are we showing GALAXINA again ??"

As to Dorothy Stratten. In GALAXINA she is a gorgeous emotionless robot. Not a stretch. But, if you see Peter Bogdanovich's THEY ALL LAUGHED, Stratten shows a bit of talent. Bogdanovich, of course, became her lover and events led to her murder. The death of Stratten and the bombing of THEY ALL LAUGHED signaled the symbolic end of Bogdanovich as a major Director. Too bad, THEY ALL LAUGHED is one of the best underseen gems of the 80s.

Watching Cinderella 2000 and it is bad compare to The Apple and it makes Galaxina looks good. The Boston Thon to me is a standard to see what will play at the Columbus Sci Fi Thon. They screen Galaxina twice it should screen here.

I don't recall ever having seen Galaxina. Hopefully if it's played a little later in the maraton & it's a crappy movie, beer will make it aaalllll better.

HD-DVD? Your the one that have a HD DVD player. I just have a BLU RAY player like the rest of the early adopters of HD medium. You know that format is quite dead.
