My annual requests: Metropolis )silent and/or anime) and Superman II (Donner cut).

I also repeat a request for Moon, one of the better, intelligent sci-fi efforts of this past decade.

I love The Hidden. Not to mention the director is a graduate of Antioch College in Yellow Springs. It would be a great marathon movie.

My daughter, who has attended the past two years, mentioned the other day how much she would love to see Spaceballs with this audience.

And don't hit me: I actually liked Super Mario Brothers. It's a mess, but an intertaining mess, and would be fun to watch with this crowd.

In my opinion that there must be two bad movies for people to vent.

How about Cinderella 2000?

There is nothing worng with Alien 3. It is a better film than Alien vs Predator 2.

I can't think of too many films that AREN'T better than Alien vs. Predator 2. Or Alien vs. Predator 1, for that matter.

Here's a fun story: I actually saw AvP: Requiem in a second-run theater that has had serious projection problems the last few years. About 2/3rds into the film the projector broke down and they couldn't fix it. I was surprised that people actually demanded refunds! I was relieved not to have to watch any more of it. That projector did us all a favor as far as I'm concerned...

But getting back on the subject... has anyone suggested Alien Nation (1988)?

Apollo 18 could work. I'm glad that the filmmakers choose to not include music qeues for the scares.

Transatlantic Tunnel (1935)
Special effects are especially impressive when you remember that this one was made the same year as Bride of Frankenstein,

For more info see:

Just Imagine
(1930) This one's even earlier. And it's a musical with Maureen O'Sullivan!!!

I woldn't mind seeing Just Imagine. I like seeing old science fiction movies with a fixed date. Seeing a movie that takes place in the far distance future of 1980 can be funny.

How about Conquest of the Planet of the Apes? Since the reboot Rise barrows from the fourth film.

The last time a sci fi musical screened at the Science Fiction Marathon it didn't go so well.

People also loved The Apple, which is what I assumed he was referring to. Regardless, the "didn't go so well" remark is incorrect in both cases.

No doubt!!! The Apple was a terrible movie but it went over like gangbusters at the marathon! Of the 25th plus marathons I've been to, The Apple is one of my favorite crowd experiences.

Well, really, how can you not love a film that ends with God showing up in a golden pimpmobile to take the Hippies to heaven?

It's just so amazingly, uncompromisingly, unapologeticaly over-the-top, that it really is an amazing work. I proudly purchased it on DVD right after that marathon.
