I am sure a lot of marathoneers will be asking for "2010" to show at this years marathon in honor of Roy Scheider and if it wasn't for the fact that we are just 2 years away from being able to show "2010" in the year 2010 I would be asking for the same thing.

What I suggest is this...I think we should honor Roy Scheider this year with BLUE THUNDER and wait the 2 years and honor Roy Scheider again in 2010.

BLUE THUNDER is an action movie but it does have several futuristic/Sci-Fi themes that I think would fit perfectly into the Sci-Fi Marathon.

We could probably get away with showing Jaws as well. Not really Sci-Fi, but I don't think anyone would object. I mean technically it is a film about a giant monster, and we've seen plenty of those at previous marathons.

I would never object to a showing of JAWS however that might be best saved for the horror marathon in October but if it's at the SCI-FI I would not complain in the least.

Blue Thunder is a great idea. Too bad we can't get SeaQuest DSV, he was a great captain.

I'm sure folks would love a projected episode of Seaquest DSV. :P (Started my post before the one above, maybe I was wrong. I liked the show, just not a big fan of projecting DVDs, especially if we are at the Grandview.)

Seriously, for the horror marathon, if we couldn't get Jaws, this might be a good catch, The Curse of the living Corpse. http://imdb.com/title/tt0057985/ The doorway, would likely be a good fit, esepcially with IMDB tags like succubus, evil doll and female nudity. http://imdb.com/title/tt0235353/ He also has a couple DTV Wes Craven Dracula movies.

As for Sci Fi, I wouldn't mind Blue Thunder. I just saw 2010 the other day and I like the idea of showing it in 2010. I was looking at his entries in IMDB (as evidenced above.) The Scifi pickings are a bit slimmer. Possible films he was in that might work at the scifi would be:

The Naked Lunch
The Punisher (as I recall he isn't in it much.)

The Curse of the living Corpse is a good movie, I watched a couple months ago on AMC or one of those movie channels and was pleasantly surprised, it's a well written/acted Who Done It.

Maybe perhaps he could get a tribute via trailers? The movies mentioned so far plus I don't think people would mind if a couple were non sci-fi if they were classics - say.. The French Connection?
