I really wanted to like the new Battlestar Galactica series. I watched the premiere and it seemed interesting enough but what really turned me off was all the “fraks”. It’s like “we have a made up curse word that sounds a lot like another curse word we can’t use .. so that makes us edgy”. And before I get flamed, let me say that I watched “Razor” on DVD and loved it … I would periodically try to watch an episode were and there, and the stories were very interesting … and I loved the camera work when they would show the ships … I just couldn’t take all the “fraks”.

Well, yesterday after Sputnik, I watched The Day the Earth Stood Still (in my opinion, one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time) and Journey to the Seventh Planet (the giant brain still cracks me up). I am currently watching The Andromeda Strain (good story, but the pacing started putting me to sleep in the theater last year).

I viewed the original Battlestar Galactica to be in the campy Science Fiction/Fantasy area like Xena/Hercules, Live action Batman series, Swamp Thing with its cheesy one liners, ect. The remake was better put together. I do remember that the 12 Colonies curse word in the original was Frack. Frak was the updated version of Frack. Now I can put out the other 12 Colonies curse word Felgercarb that was used for the Galactica 1980 or second season because the second season aired in a 8PM timeslot.

There are some times that science fiction series was ahead of its time.

I can say the same with the Doctor Who Series one (including the 1996 TV Move) and Series 2 spin off. There are some Doctor Who Serials that are slow pacing, bad special effects, ect. With the new series there are not enough time for story development with the exception of the two parters. With Series One there are some serials are well paced, special effects are decent for the timed. (CSO or Green Screen was pioneer with DW Series One) Do I viewed Doctor Who Series One as campy Sci Fi? On some serials yes.

Now I do want to see the other theatrical/TV movies of Battlestar Galactica TOS. I do wish Universal will released the other Battlestar Galactica movies: The Living Legend, Experiment in Terra, Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack, Conquest of the Earth. I would buy these.

Now tonight I will watch Forrest J Ackerman Documentary I will not pst any spoilers.

Well one hour 12 minuets to be exactly 48 hours or 2800 minuets to go.

The Frak thing bothers my wife as well. I find myself occaisionally using it, which bumps up my geek cred, I guess.

Yesterday, after Andromeda Strain, I watched Lady Terminator (that was such a piece of crap that I couldn't stop laughing) and 1984 (i think this is the first time i've said this, but ... i think i preferred the book). I am currently watching Pitch Black (not a big vin diesel fan but i liked this movie) and before the day is done I plan on watching Stranger from Venus (crappy rip-off of "day the earth stood still") and A Clockwork Orange (classic).

After spending the week catching up on the movies that played at last year's 'thon ... I feel ready.

Ahh yes the Lady Terminator. Before the start of last year Science Fiction Marathon I rented through Netflix and It was the best bad movie I have ever seen. The Mutilations, The cheesy narration with the movie trailer type voice, and the homoerotic undertones of the A-Team type ending. This particular bad science fiction movie doesn't pad the film with stock footage or suffer from slow pacing witch is a plus. If you have the time watch the documentary that is included on the disc. It does put the movie in some perspective.

I want to see a T-Shirt with Felgercarb you, Your Felgercarb, Felgercarb. Hmm that doesn't sound right.

OR

Felgercarb You, and the horse you rode in on. Man I say up late last night so I be good and tired by 7PM and sleep to 5:30AM, or try to.

Note I do wear glasses. The picture you seen in the Dispatch Article is me without my glasses. Look for William Cail.
