Every year the Boston and Ohio Marathons seem to have at least 2 or 3 films that overlap. So, with that in mind, here are my notes on which Boston films from this February might make a good showing there in Ohio. My complete Marathon recap can be found here:

Some films such as BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, LADY TERMINATOR, MOTHRA, STAR TREK 2009 and THE HOST (horror) have all played Ohio recently, so they aren't as likely to show.
20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA (1916) - I liked this as a silent film more than some in Boston, but there is no doubt that as an experience with live music it was a treat. And, we got a very good accompanist (Jeff Rapsis). Much would depend on who was hired to do the music.
METROPIA - Dreary euro animation in a 1984-ish vein. Not bad, but Ohio can find a lot better animation choice. And, not really a premiere either since it's out on DVD.
MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE - A must! Went over very well with the Boston crowd. It has never showed the Ohio 'thon (although it showed in 1999 in Pickerington). Rare print from a private collector (I have the info) - even the studio doesn't have a copy for rent!
THE QUIET EARTH - Kind of surprised that this has never shown in Ohio! Having now seen it 3 times, this is definately one of the most underrated SF gems of the 80s. Show it in the wee hours after the natives have gotten their restlessness outta them (it IS a very QUIET movie). We had some print problems in Boston, which hopefully the distributor can fix for Ohio.
MONSTERS - One of last year's most notable indie SF films. Well done for the budget, even if I personally don't think it amounts to much in the end.
VIDEODROME - A lot depends on one's tolerance for early Cronenberg. Not one of my personal faves, but it held up much better than I expected. Last played at the 1996 Living Drexel marathon.
LAST WOMAN ON EARTH - A lot depends on one's tolerance for early Roger Corman.

I found this interesting, but the "color" print is fully magenta.
ZONAD - Boston's "premiere" this year (it has also played a couple of other fests). It's dumb, stupid, gross and kinda charming. It played well with the Boston crowd, but this is one of those hit or miss things that if it strikes the audience in the wrong way - it could lay an egg.
