IT'S OVER FOR ANOTHER YEAR!

Posted by Joe

At approximately 12:30pm EST yesterday, The 11th Annual SHOCK AROUND THE CLOCK once again conquered the seemingly unstoppable zombie apocalypse before finally succumbing to a well-deserved coma of sleep. The battle may be over for now, but the fight against the undead army will continue again next year. Until then, join us in thanking the great Michael Gornick for helping our zombie-thrashing efforts, and to all of our loyal Nightmarathoids for braving another 24 hours of cinematic carnage. Long Live the Horror Marathon!

SHOCK AROUND THE CLOCK

The 11th Annual Ohio 24-Hour Horror Marathon
AT THE DREXEL THEATER (2254 E. MAIN ST., COLUMBUS, OHIO)
NOON, OCTOBER 12 - NOON, OCTOBER 13

IN PERSON! LEGENDARY DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY MICHAEL GORNICK (CREEPSHOW, DAY OF THE DEAD, DAWN OF THE DEAD, KNIGHTRIDERS, MARTIN)

Sharpen your wooden stakes! Stock up on silver bullets! Because Columbus's terror tradition is back to haunt your nightmares for another terror-drenched rotation of the planet. And this year, we're proud to welcome legendary Director of Photography Michael Gornick as our Guest of Honor. Michael was the DP for the George A. Romero classics CREEPSHOW, DAWN OF THE DEAD, DAY OF THE DEAD, KNIGHTRIDERS, and MARTIN, as well as a Post-Production Supervisor on those films, an Executive Producer on Mick Garris' acclaimed TV mini-series of Stephen King's THE STAND, and the Director of CREEPSHOW 2. He has a ton of amazing stories about his storied career in the film business and his role in horror history, so we're looking forward to him sharing them with you, the demented Nightmarathoid faithful.

Michael will host an audience Q+A, a meet and greet in the lobby, and will be introducing two George A. Romero classics:

  • Romero and Stephen King's wonderfully gruesome anthology film CREEPSHOW, starring Tom Atkins, Adrienne Barbeau, Ed Harris, Ted Danson, Leslie Nielsen, Hal Holbrook, and E.G. Marshall.
  • A tribute to the late Joe Pilato with DAY OF THE DEAD, Romero's apocalyptic follow-up to DAWN OF THE DEAD. In glorious 35mm!
But that's not all! We've also assembled a murderer's row of premieres, classics, and more, featuring:
  • The MIDWEST PREMIERE of Daniel (THE SIGNAL) Bush's pregnancy paranoia shocker THE DARK RED.
  • The OHIO PREMIERE of Brett Pierce's supernatural chiller THE WRETCHED.
  • Joe Begos' psychedelic vampire freakazoid fantasia BLISS.
  • Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor in Alfred Hitchcock's nature gone nutso classic THE BIRDS.
  • Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in Edgar Wright's modern zombie classic SHAUN OF THE DEAD.
  • A rare 35mm screening of David Cronenberg's taboo-shattering CRASH.
  • Sopranos, screams, and slaughter in Dario Argento's OPERA.
  • Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela Lugosi in the Universal Horror classics FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN.
  • Nicolas Cage in Panos Cosmatos's acid-drenched modern cult classic MANDY.
  • The gleefully splatterific Australian gore comedy BODY MELT.

PLUS! The 11th Annual Costume Contest (with the $100 First Prize BIG CHECK!) The 11th Annual Scream Contest! Prizes, swag, more prizes, giveaways, and even more prizes! Coffinloads of 35mm trailers and shorts!

IT'S OVER FOR ANOTHER YEAR!

Posted by Joe

After 24 hours of sojourns in vampire-infested border bars, high occult anxiety in 15th century Europe, supernatural revenge plots in the swamp, unholy battles of wills between stepdaughters and stepfathers, ill-fated Halloween nights in haunted mortuarys, and a double dose of Giallo madness, The 10th Annual SHOCK AROUND THE CLOCK was staked in the heart and returned to its grave once again. Thanks again to all who made it happen, and all of YOU who keep it coming back from the dead every year. Until next time, stay scared!
